It’s hard to believe it’s already been a week since my colleague Harshita Sharma and I presented together at the Business Analysis Europe Conference on the topic of how BAs and UX can collaborate effectively.

We’ve both been so encouraged by the feedback since — thank you to everyone who shared kind words about how useful the session was for you. Hearing that our examples and case studies resonated and sparked further conversation has been hugely rewarding.

What’s also been fascinating is hearing from others about the many different ways project teams are working together. It highlighted just how much variation there is — and how easily misunderstandings can arise between BA, UX, and other stakeholders. One area that stood out was the value of a shared discovery phase, helping to align perspectives early and avoid friction later down the line.

A personal takeaway for me: I’d really recommend going along to a conference outside your own discipline. It broadens your horizons, helps you see things from different perspectives, and grows empathy for the challenges and approaches of other roles.
For us, the talk was a chance to show that when Business Analysis and User Experience work hand in hand, the result isn’t just better alignment with stakeholders — it’s solutions that genuinely serve users while delivering business value.

Grateful to Harshita for being such a brilliant co-presenter, and to all those in the People’s Partnership BA and UX teams who supported us in preparing.

Looking forward to keeping the conversation going and continuing to build bridges between our disciplines.
